Welcome to Progressive Percussion

This site is home to a series of drum tutor books, written to give a very gradual progression from the very beginning of learning to play. The aim is to introduce percussion techniques alongside musical concepts and to have the budding percussionist playing real music as quickly as possible.

The books use standard notation throughout, and all different notes and symbols are explained fully. The books aim to teach drum kit playing, as well as covering the multitude of small instruments about which percussionists are expected to be aware of.

Individual parts of each book are available to download directly from this site as PDF files. Early parts of this series are free to download. The next few parts are also free to download, but require registering with the site first. After that, each part is available after paying a small fee.

The Progressive Percussion site has been relaunched. Each part of the book is now available for download from the site as a PDF file. The early ones are available for free, the later ones require the payment of a small fee first. Happy downloading!
